Lizard Facts

The smallest lizard is the Jaragua lizard. It is a mere 1.5 cm in length.

The tuatara, a lizard-like reptile, is known for living for over 100 years.

The eyes of a chameleon are not symmetrical. They can look north with one eye and south with the other at the same time.

Like other reptiles, Lizards are cold-blooded meaning they cannot generate heat on their own to regulate their body temperature.

The Komodo Dragon is the world's largest reptile. They can grow to be 3 metres long and weigh 135 kilograms.

When chased by a predator, certain lizards detach their tail. For nearly half an hour, the tail continues to wag. This causes the predator to get confused, allowing the lizard to flee.

Common Basilisk – a species of lizard – has a special talent of running on water.

There are about 6,000 different species of lizards on the earth. It outnumbers all other reptiles.
